In conjunction with the International Poverty Eradication Day of October 17, the Samurdhi Development Department led the Homagama Samurdhi Praja Moola Bank Samiti on the occasion of October 17 named "Bank Promotion Day" under the implementation of Samurdhi programs during the week from October 17 to October 23. In Homagama Division, Meegoda, Homagama, Pitipana, Mattegoda and Polgasovita Samurdhi Praja Mula Bank opened new accounts including Shrama Shakti, Children and accepted cash deposits for savings accounts.
The opening of new bank accounts and savings promotion programs were organized by the managers of the five (5) Homagama Samurdhi Community Banks, including the manager of the Samurdhi Community Bank Society, the bank staff and Samurdhi Development Officers.
