This program was organized in conjunction with the 77th birthday of the late master artist Premakirthi De Alwis, who made a tremendous contribution to the art sector of the country, and was held on 06-07-2024 at the auditorium of the Homagama Divisional Secretariat.
This helpless artist named Premakirthi De Alvis, who showed his incomparable talent in many fields as a lyricist, communicator, poet, script writer, etc., was killed on 31-07-1989, and at the time of his death, he was living in the village of Homagama Katuwana.
Senior journalist and artist Mr. Saman Athavudahetti participated as the chief guest in this program which was organized in recognition of his contribution to the art field and his creative practice. In this interview which was launched as an interview with Mr. Saman Atauda Hetty, veteran musician, vocalist Mr. Priyanath Ratnayake, singer Mr. Sohan Perera, scholar Ms. Disna Sanjeevani Devage, scholar Sujani Madushika Hettiarachi to sing songs composed by Mr. Premakirthi De Alvis. Ms., Scholar Nilanka Navod Siriwardena and Scholar Sanuga Third contributed.
Musician Mr. Kamal Ileperuma and the main orchestra provided music for this program. For this occasion, Maharagama Divisional Secretary Mrs. Dilrukshi Valpola, Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara, Divisional Secretary Mr. B.A.D Chinthaka, Assistant Regional Secretary Mr. Chamal D. Thenuwara, Accountant Mr. Pubudu Kuruppuachchige, Deputy Director (Planning) Nilanka N. Mrs. Sampath, Homagama Divisional Council Secretary, distinguished guests as well as school children of Homagama Education Zone, students of Godagama Technical College, artists, Katuwana villagers and a large group of art fans participated.
