According to the concept of the Colombo District Secretary/Diplomat Mr. Pradeep Yasaratne, an awareness program about urban gardening was conducted for the members of the Matthegoda East Village Development Committee on the last 18 days in conjunction with the "Aharin Sapiri Kolomthotak" gardening campaign between the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of the Colombo District.

Along with this, vegetable plants and seed packets were also provided.
The community including Rural Development Officer, Human Resource Development Officer, Matthegoda East Village Officer Domain, Village Officer, Development Officer, Samurdhi Development Officer and Agriculture Research Production Assistant Officer, Rural Development Committee members joined this.
On the advice of Homagama Divisional Secretary Mr. B. A. D. Chinthaka, the village implements these gardening war programs.
