In conjunction with the International Poverty Eradication Day of October 17, the Samurdhi Development Department will implement Samurdhi programs during the week from October 17 to October 23. Under the auspices of Imbulakanda Sambuddhi Temple Chief Yahamule Anurawansa Thero and Colombo District Secretary, the two families of Mr. A.P. Lakshman and Mr. B.M Ruwan Kumara, who lived without ownership of a land in Homagama South Grama Niladhari Division, were given land ownership and the foundation stone was laid to build two new houses. / Governor K.G. Ashoka Kumara, Samurdhi Development Department Social Development Assistant Director E.V.U.Pushpakumara, Divisional Secretary Mr. B.A.D.Chinthaka participated.
Ms. Manel Gunathilaka, Homagama South Samurdhi Development Officer, is carrying out the construction of these two houses with the support of donors and the community with the financial contribution of two hundred and fifty thousand rupees (250,000/=) from the Samurdhi House Lottery Fund.
Officers including Ms. Eta Ilesinghe, Vajira Jayathilaka, Dayani Navaratne and Samurdhi Development Officer Nadika Lakmini of the Social Development Division of the Samurdhi Development Department, Ms. Gopika Palliaguru, the Social Development Manager of the Colombo District Secretariat, and Mr. Buddhika Weerasekera, the District Social Development Officer, Samurdhi. Bank Association Manager Ms. P.S Wevelwala, Headquarters Samurdhi Manager Ms. T.G Sriani, Homagama Samurdhi Manager Ms. Sitara Chandrasekara, Social Development Officers Ms. Kanthika Hulathduwa, Ms. Chamila Jayathunga, Homagama Samurdhi Zone Assistant Ms. Premalatha Gage, Homagama South Village Officer and development officer and local residents participated in this event.
