In conjunction with the International Poverty Eradication Day of October 17, Samurdhi Development Department passengers during the week of October 17 to October 23 under the implementation of Samurdhi programs on the occasion of October 20 named "Social Development Day" under the Samurdhi housing program Homagama Batawala Village Officer "Samurdhi House" built to the family of Mr. R.A Ajith Kumara, a resident of Padukka, Batawala, Division No. 40/4, was handed over by Colombo District Secretary / District Governor K.G. Wijesiri, Colombo District Development Director A.G.S. Ashoka Kumara, Assistant Director of Social Development of Samurdhi Development Department E.V.U.Pushpakumara, Divisional Secretary B.A.D.Chinthaka participated.
Mrs. Sriani Kothalawala, the Samurdhi Development Officer of Batawala, built and handed over this home with a finished value of five lakh rupees with the financial contribution of six hundred thousand rupees (600,000/=) from Samurdhi House Lottery Fund and the help of local donors.
