"Sanhida" Senior Day Care Center, which is the first day care center for the elderly in the Colombo district, jointly established by the National Senior General Secretariat and the Homagama Divisional Secretariat, was opened on 03-05-2024 in the presence of the Hon'ble Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Mr. Bandula Gunawardena.
Renovation of an abandoned building at Kirigampamunwa Model Primary School, a school built some time ago in Kirigampamunwa village, Homagama Divisional Secretariat Division, gave way to the grant of this adult day care center for senior citizens.
Built to protect the health of the Detu citizen community in the middle of life.The financial allocation for "Reconciliation" was granted by the General Secretariat of Elders and the construction of this day care center took place under the supervision of the Homagama Divisional Secretary.
Colombo District Secretary, Director of the National Elders General Secretariat, Divisional Secretary, Assistant Divisional Secretary, head office staff officers, and office officers as well as many officials engaged in division-related duties participated in this event.
The event was colorful with the singing and dancing of Detu citizens and the program was organized by the social services department of the office in collaboration with Kirigampamunwa Grama Niladhari officer, economic development officer and "Sanhinda" elders’ organization.
