A program to inform police officers at 06 police stations in the division was held recently at the Divisional Secretariat under the program to inform public officials about the mediation process implemented according to a concept of the Mediation Board Commission of the Ministry of Justice.

The program was organized based on the responsibility, accountability and role of the police in implementing the mediation process, the proper procedure for referring a dispute to the Mediation Board by the police, the problems identified by the Mediation Board so far and the solutions to them, the evaluation of police stations that properly perform the mediation function, and the benefits of the mediation process as an alternative method of resolving conflicts and disputes without resorting to judicial proceedings, as well as the complaints received by the Mediation Board from the relevant police stations in the year 2025 and their status. 25 police officers serving in Kahathuduwa, Mattegoda, Athurugiriya, Homagama, Meegoda and Avissawella police stations were targeted as beneficiaries for this program, and the resourcefulness for this was provided by the Office Mediation Officer, Mrs. K.D. Himali Katugampala, and the Chairman of the Homagama Mediation Headquarters, Mr. Pemasiri Silva.

This program was coordinated and organized by the Office Mediation Officer under the guidance and supervision of the Divisional Secretary.
