The B.A Amarasinghe Memorial Library in Prasannapura Division of Homagama Divisional Secretariat remained inactive due to the Covid epidemic situation, and with the aim of making it active again, this program was held on 17-01-2023 at Prasannapura Division.
This library, which was held at a very active level for a long time, providing a helping hand to the knowledge and reading of local children and adults, has been out of use by the community for the past 3 years due to the spread of the Covid disaster in the country.
According to the request of the local residents, under the guidance of the Divisional Secretary, the Library Development Reader's Club was established here as the initial step in the process of re-opening the library.
A board of officers was elected for the reading club with representatives from the local youth community, girls and senior citizens.
Also, plans to clean up the library premises and start the library after the renovation works, and the plans for updating and maintaining the library activities were also discussed here.
Office Culture Officers, Division Prosperity Development Officer and rural community participated in this event and the Office Culture Division organized this program.
