The Regional Coordination Committee Meeting organized by the Planning Division of the Homagama Divisional Secretariat with the objective of reviewing the development issues and progress of the Homagama Division was held on 2026.07.14 at 2.00 PM at the Homagama Divisional Secretariat Auditorium.

The meeting was attended by the Honorable Chairman of the Homagama Coordination Committee, Mr. Aruna Panagoda, Honorable Member of Parliament, Mr. Susantha Dodawatte, Honorable Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha, other members and dignitaries, the Divisional Secretary, Assistant Divisional Secretary, Deputy Director of Planning and public officials as well as the public.

The Bakmaha Festival for People with Special Needs was held on 28.04.2026 at the Godagama Purana Viharaya. For this, the Chief Incumbent of Godagama Purana Viharaya, Venerable Kotigala Nandarathana Nayaka Thero and the political authority were represented by the Chairman of the Homagama Regional Coordination Committee, Hon. MP Aruna Panagoda, Hon. MP Sudath Silva and Homagama Divisional Secretary B.A.D. Chinthaka, Assistant Divisional Secretary Chamal D. Thenuwara, Grama Niladhari Dhammika Karunathilaka, Praja Shakthi Development Officer Laksiri, Praja Shakthi Development Officer Apsara and field officers with the support of the Social Services Division. One hundred and fifty people with disabilities and their parents participated in this.

The "Announcement and Voice Training Program" organized with the aim of developing the creative skills of the officers of the Homagama Divisional Secretariat was successfully held at the office auditorium.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Divisional Secretary, this program, organized based on the concept of the Assistant Divisional Secretary, was resourced by experienced television and radio announcer, voice actress, and singer Mrs. Udani Ratnayake.

The program included basic knowledge and guidance for conducting a program in a formal and attractive manner, as well as practical activities such as the importance of communication and voice development exercises.

The Assistant Divisional Secretary and about 30 officers representing various departments of the office participated in this.

The program was organized by the Office Cultural Division.

The Dhamma School Student Leadership Camp in Mambulgoda and Meegoda 1 Zone organized by the Homagama Hewagamkorale Shasanarakshaka Board was successfully held on 2026.05.02 at the Niyadagala Pushparama Temple and the Meegoda Bhikkhu Meditation Center under the full supervision and participation of the Regional Secretary B. A. D. Chinthaka and Assistant Regional Secretary Chamal D. Thenuwara.

The resources for the leadership camp in Mambulgoda Zone were provided by the Honorable Secretary of the Hewagamkorale Shasanarakshaka Board, Venerable Kotigala Nandarathana Thero, Assistant Regional Secretary Chamal D. Thenuwara, Child Rights Promotion Officer K. Prathapage, and Sports Officer Prabuddha Chinthaka.

The Buddhist Affairs Coordinating Officer, Child Protection Officer, Grama Niladhari, Community Empowerment Officer and Dhamma School Teachers participated in this event. The resources for the leadership camp in Meegoda 1 Region were provided by the Honorable Registrar Venerable Kotigala Nandarathana Thero, Assistant Divisional Secretary Chamal D. Thenuwara, Youth Services Officer Sanjeewa Pradeep, Counseling Officer Samantha Arambepola, and Child Rights Promotion Officer Dhammika Swarnaseeli.

The Buddhist Affairs Coordinating Officer, Godagama North Community Empowerment Officer, Grama Niladhari, and Dhamma School Teachers participated in this event. The program was organized and supported by the Hewagam Koraleya Shasanarakshaka Youth Council.

With the aim of passing down local culture to future generations, a Gok craft training workshop was held on March 19 and 20, 2026, in the auditorium of Homagama Central College for students in grades 9 and 10 who study dance and art at that school.

The program was conducted with the resources of master Gok craftsman Mr. Ranjith Priyankara and organized as part of the Cultural Department’s “Vatsara Piyawara” cultural promotion series. It took place under the full supervision, guidance, and direction of the Regional Secretary and was coordinated by Cultural Officer Ms. Nalanie Swarnalatha.
