In conjunction with the 2025 World Environment Day celebration program, a Kumbuk tree planting program was recently conducted around the Mattegoda Maha Wewa and its surrounding areas in Mattegoda West Grama Niladhari Division, Homagama with the aim of protecting the Mattegoda Maha Wewa and its surrounding areas.
The community, representing all divisions of Mattegoda, participated in this program. Mattegoda Police OIC R.M.M. Mr. S Indika Kumara, Community Corrections Officer of Kesbewa Magistrate's Court Mr. T. A Saman, Office Environment Officer Mrs. Lasanthi Nugaliyadda, Development Officer (Community Corrections) Mrs. Wasana Jayasinghe and Mrs. Nilanthi Bandara, Development Officer of Mattegoda East Division Mrs. D. Sujeewa Kumari, Development Officer of Mattegoda Central B Division Mrs. R.M Irosha Chandani, Development Officer of Mattegoda Central A Division Mrs. K. C Mudalige, Agriculture Research and Production Assistant of Mattegoda West Division Mr. M.J Damitha Perera, Police Officer attached to the Division Mr. H. T. S Perera, and a group of community leaders with knowledge in various subject areas participated in this event.
The participation of Community Corrections Officers was encouraged for their labor contribution to make this event a success, and this program was organized by the office Community Corrections Officers under the guidance of the Divisional Secretary and Assistant Divisional Secretary.
