As part of the series of programs conducted in conjunction with the International Day of the Elderly, a program to educate school students on the theme of Children's World - Elderly Life was conducted at Homagama Central College on 29/09/2025 for the students of that college.

Here, the theme of "Our Responsibility as Children for the Elderly" was presented by Mr. Ratna Sri Bandara, Deputy Principal of Godagama Subharathi College, Mrs. H.S. Phasmita Pathirana, Ayurvedic Community Health Medical Officer, and the discourse on the elderly and elderly life was presented by musician Damith Nandana Gunapriya.

This program was conducted by the Elder Development Officer M.D.D. Nayomi, under the provisions of the National Elders Secretariat, under the instructions and guidance of the Divisional Secretary.

The Cinema Appreciation Program organized by Peradiriwa with the aim of developing empathy in the minds of students through the human qualities in cinema works was successfully held on 2025-09-16 at the Homagama Central High School Theatre.

The Honorable Chairman of the Homagama Coordinating Committee, Member of Parliament Aruna Panagoda, Member of the State Cinema Board, Lecturer, Film Critic, Film Writer at the University of Colombo Ms. Anusha Sivalingam, National and International Award-winning Cinematographer Ajith Ratnayake, Film Critic, Film Writer Gunasiri Silva, Film Researcher, Critic and Veteran Cinematographer Chathuraya Jayathilaka, Homagama Deputy Zonal Education Director (Counselor, Guidance Counselor and Sinhala Teacher Advisor) Ms. Kalyani Vidanagamage, Principal of Homagama Central College Ms. Adhi Hettige, Secretary of the Cinema Board Mr. Samantha Kusumsiri and Assistant Secretary of the Cinema Board Ms. Amada Sandamali participated in this event.

About 500 students studying in grade 10 of Homagama Central College and Homagama President's College participated in this event, and the resources for this event were provided by the members of the Film Subcommittee, namely Ms. Anusha Sivalingam, Lecturer, Film Critic, Film Writer of the University of Colombo, Mr. Ajith Ratnayake, Film Writer, Critic, Gunasiri Silva, Film Researcher, Critic, and Veteran Cinematographer Chathura Jayathilaka. The program was organized and coordinated by the Cultural Officer, Ms. Nalini Swarnalatha, under the supervision of the Cultural Director, Mrs. K.S. Dilhani and the Homagama Divisional Secretary, Mr. B.A.D. Chanthaka.

In the series of programs held in conjunction with the International Day of the Elderly, a Dhamma discourse was delivered by Venerable Keenapelasse Kashyapa Thero, Dharmacharya, Shastravade of the Nalandarama Dharmayana, Mount Lavinia, on 27/09/2025 at the Suwapubudugama Dakshinarama Viharaya, on behalf of the members of the Suwapubudugama Elders' Organization, Prasannapura Elders' Organization and Pitipana South Elders' Organization, focusing on the concept of elders nourished by Dhamma.

This program was jointly organized by the Elders' Development Officer M.D.D. Nayomi, the Suwapubudugama Grama Niladhari and the Suwapubudugama Elders' Organization on the instructions and guidance of the Divisional Secretary.

A yoga program, as the third program in the series of programs conducted in conjunction with the International Day of Older Persons with the aim of a healthy and fit elderly, was conducted on 28/09/2025 by Yogacharya Chulanath Lakmal Abeygunawardena at the Kiriwatthuduwa South Peace Temple for the members of the Pahandora Elderly Organization, Kiriwatthuduwa South.

This program was organized jointly by the Elderly Development Officer M.D.D. Nayomi, the Local Medical Development Officer N.S. Punchhewa and the Grama Niladhari of the division on the instructions and guidance of the Divisional Secretary.

A Great Sangha alms offering was held at the Godagama Purana Viharaya on 28.09.2025 with the participation of one hundred and twenty-five (125) monks.

The main objective was to inculcate the virtue of giving among school children and develop good morals.

Under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent of the Godagama Purana Viharaya, Venerable Kotigala Nandarathana Thero, the activities were organized by the Godagama North Development Officer, Mr. Wijayantha Laksiri, and the Buddhist Affairs Coordinator of the Homagama Divisional Secretariat also joined the event.
