The Children's Story Presentation Competition round of the Regional Literature Competition held in conjunction with the Regional Literary Festival-2025 was held on 21/08/2025 at the Homagama Divisional Secretariat premises.

Many students of grades 1 and 2 of schools in the Homagama Division participated in this, and Mr. Nilan Maligaspa, Principal of Watareka Creative Dance and Drama Academy, Ms. Nirmala Handapangoda, Principal of the Panaluwa University Art Institute, Ms. Disna Sanjeevani Devage, Principal of the Godagama Swaranga Art Institute, provided resources for the judging of this competition.

This program, organized with the aim of creating a happy school with minimal conflicts, creating a generation of students with self-esteem with leadership skills who see problems positively through generating alternatives free from the framed method, providing the opportunity to raise a special generation of children in the school system by developing attitudes and personality, and preventing child abuse, was held on 2025.08.19 at the auditorium of B.P./H.O./ Wijewardena Maha Vidyalaya.

125 students from grades 9 and 10 of B.P./H.O./ Wijewardena Maha Vidyalaya participated in this program, and the Office Mediation Development Officer Mrs. K.D.Himaly Katugampala and Child Rights Promotion Officer K. Mr. Prathapage provided the resource.This program is organized and conducted by the Homagama Probation Office.

A special entertainment program organized for the students who entered the B.E./H.E./Central College for the G.C.E. (G.E.) Examination in the year 2025 was held on 22-08-2025 at the Homagama Central College premises.

This program, which was organized with the aim of developing the attitudes of the students through an aesthetic approach, creating empathy in the minds of the children through songs and providing enjoyment through pleasant songs, was facilitated by Mr. Pradeep Muthukudaarachchi, External Lecturer at the Universities of Colombo, Jayewardenepura and Soundarya, Music Professor at the Mahinda Rajapaksa College, Pitipana, and Musicologist.

About 300 students participated in this program, which was organized by Cultural Officer Nalini Swarnalatha.

With the aim of creating a healthy community, a health clinic to diagnose non-communicable diseases was held at the Sri Sailanthara Purana Viharaya, Habarakada on 21.08.2025.

At this health clinic, high blood pressure tests,

blood sugar tests,

risk tests for heart disease,

Pap smear tests,

breast cancer detection tests and many other tests were conducted, as well as

eye sight and cataract removal tests.

A large number of residents of Habarakada and the surrounding areas participated in this health clinic and about 200 people were given free eyeglasses.

The staff of the Homagama Base Hospital's Non-Communicable Diseases Unit, including Dr. Bhakthi Wijeweera, the office board, the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Association's Operations Director, Mr. Gamini Nishantha, and the former General Secretary of the organization, Mrs. Kalyani Wickramasinghe, and the Family Health Officer, Mrs. Dinusha Sewwandi, representing the Homagama Medical Officer of Health Office, contributed to this great event.
