Divisional Secretariat - Homagama

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of a new service building on a land donated to the government by the Kithulahena Funeral Aid and Welfare Society, fulfilling the need for a service building that had been lacking until now, took place at 10.15 am on 18.09.2025.

An amount of Rs. 1.5 million has been allocated for this project, which is implemented with the aim of providing the necessary facilities for clients to avail the services of government officials under one roof and improving the infrastructure of the community.

Hon. Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Engineer Janitha Ruwan Kodituwakku, along with Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Kasun Ratnayake, former Chairman Ruwan Prabodha Peiris, Pradeshiya Sabha Members Sukhith Hapuarachchi and Member Priyanka Damayanthi, Homagama Divisional Secretary B.A.D Chinthaka, Deputy Director (Planning) Nilanka Sampath, Administrative Grama Niladhari Ruwanthilaka, Technical Assistant Officer Iroshini Walpola and Mattegoda Police OIC R M M S Indika Kumara and several police officers participated in this event as guests.

The program, which was held with the participation of government officers attached to the Kithulahena Grama Niladhari Division, namely Grama Niladhari Kumara Rupasiri, Development Officer Wasantha Lal, Samurdhi Development Officer Nishantha Paranamanna, Agricultural Research and Production Assistant K L N W Liyanage, Public Health Inspector DMU Sandeepa, officers and members of community organizations including the Clean Sri Lanka Committee, Senior Citizens Society, Samurdhi Society, Village Development Society, National People's Power Movement Siddamulla Divisional Council, and many members of the community in the division, was organized by the Kithulahena Clean Sri Lanka Rural Committee under the supervision and instructions of the Divisional Secretary, and the Divisional Development Officer and Grama Niladhari coordinated the program.

With the aim of awakening the imagination and aesthetic creative skills of children in early childhood, the "Kathandara Nanda" program organized by the Cultural Division of the Homagama Divisional Secretariat with the financial provision of the Western Province Ministry of Culture and Arts was successfully conducted recently targeting the children of the "Blooming Buds" Pre-School and "UNG" Pre-School in Homagama.

"The Story of the Golden Swan" based on the Swarna Hansa Jataka was presented in a more colourful way to suit the children's mind. The resource for this was provided by Mrs. Visharad Disna Sanjeevani Devage, the Director of the "Swaranga" Kalasevana, Panagoda, and more than 60 children participated.

Mrs. Chamari Lakmali, the Early Childhood Development Officer of the office, Cultural Officer (P.O.) Thisaru Kottage, the Head Preschool Superintendent and teaching staff of "Blooming Buds" Preschool, the Head Preschool Superintendent, teaching staff and parents of "UNG" Preschool participated in this event.

The program was jointly organized by the Office Cultural Division and the Children's Affairs Division.

A program to educate children in grades four and five on waste management was conducted at Diyagama Kanishta Vidyalaya on 2025.09.30 under the coordination of Pradeshiya Sabha Member Mrs. Renuka Liyanage.

The principal and teaching staff of the college participated in the event and the children also presented their views on environmental conservation. The awareness was conducted by Environmental Development Officer Lasanthi Nugaliyadda.

Here, a children's story that is most suitable for the child's mind was presented to the children in a vivid manner, and the use of the human voice in various forms was presented to the children in a practical way. The resource for this was provided by veteran radio artiste Mrs. Shyamali Livera, and more than 100 children participated.

The Principal and teaching staff of WP/HO/ Kiriwatthuduwa Jayathilaka College, the Deputy Principal and teaching staff of WP/HO/ Wijewardena Maha Vidyalaya, and the Cultural Officer (B.P.) Thisaru Kottage participated in this event.

This program was organized in coordination with the Cultural Division of the office and the teachers of the above colleges.
